Our sustainability approach accompanies us throughout the entire life cycle of the façade – from raw materials to maintenance.
We work with our customers to create precise life cycle analyses in order to ensure transparency and a better understanding of the data. Knowledge and openness are at the heart of everything we do. Together with our project partners, we develop project-specific solutions to reduce the CO2 emissions of our products. Our own emissions are very low, as our production facilities are mainly powered by solar energy from our own photovoltaic systems. An environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001 supports us in continuously improving our environmental protection.
Circularity (circular economy) is another key component in the long-term reduction of emissions – and as facade specialists, we can actively influence this.
FKN has extensive experience in revitalizing facades by reusing existing aluminum frames and supports its clients in this process from an early stage. We develop new facade systems with a view to later dismantling, so that components can be reused or facades can be flexibly adapted to new uses on site. This results in virtually no waste: thanks to our membership of A/U/F, we consistently recycle production residues – and there is hardly any waste on construction sites either.
Sustainability is an integral part of FKN's corporate philosophy. We use reusable racks to transport our facade elements in order to conserve resources. Our logistics are carried out using modern trucks that comply with current environmental and safety standards. Packaging materials are consistently returned from construction sites after use and recycled wherever technically possible. We also think sustainably when dismantling existing facades: aluminum residues are recycled in accordance with the A/U/F cycle. In addition, we promote environmentally friendly mobility for our employees by offering them the opportunity to use company bicycles as part of the JobRad program.
